The Next Phase of Trinity Buoy Wharf: A Performative Stage of Its Own

Project details

Programme
Unit UG13
Year 2

The project uses performance as a tool, understanding that performance culture is the act of something as a form of performance rather than something that is itself a performance. The project features a designers’ flagship store that focuses on the experience the building’s users, and the building itself, to recreate performance. The building develops architecturally so that the building not only functions as a performance space but also performs to itself, elaborating the performance of the users around it to interact with the environment and the architecture.

An Open Performative Space for the Performers of the Building Itself

Performance from a Distance

A Glance into the Performance

An exterior experience where you feel that you are already inside. Looking into the Designers’ Showcase cashiers through the internal void and out into the Thames once again.

A Performance of Its Own

LCD smart glass technology used to enhance the performative quality within the building, turning transparent when someone enters the building, starting a performance of its own.
