r | spaces aims to create a new reality for human interaction.
Chelsea, London, the area around Lots Road Power Station, has one of the highest numbers of drug related deaths in all of the United Kingdom. The primary cause of this problem is the lack of human connection and unstable interpersonal relationships. This is further enhanced by nationwide lockdowns during the covid-19 pandemic. In their isolation, people seek refuge in perception stimulation through drug abuse rather than bonding with others.
For this reason, r | spaces proposes a new form of interaction which is both physical and digital in the same way. It creates spaces where people can interact and experience other people’s interests and ideas on a non-verbal basis with all their senses.
The user experience is created in pod like spaces which can fulfill different functions. Smells, sounds, touches and visual stimulation can be produced. This enables visitors to recreate realities for others by using the r | space media app. New realities are created. It does not aim to recreate but rather form new mixed realities that help people connect on a deeper level.
